Project Background:

Several years into operation, the Metro Line 2 of a certain city experienced severe water leakage issues in some tunnel sections. Especially during rainy seasons, water droplets continuously seeped through the tunnel walls and ceilings, and even formed ponding in some low-lying areas, severely impacting the safe operation of the metro and passenger comfort. After professional inspection, it was determined that the leakage mainly originated from tiny cracks and joints in the concrete structure of the tunnels.


Solution:

To address this challenge, the project team decided to use polyurethane grouting material for leakage control. Firstly, the polyurethane grouting material was injected into the leakage points within the concrete structure of the tunnels through high-pressure grouting equipment. The material rapidly reacts with water and expands to form a high-density waterproof layer, effectively sealing cracks and joints. Meanwhile, its excellent adhesion ensures long-term firm bonding with the concrete substrate. During the construction process, the team also utilized advanced detection technology to monitor the grouting effect in real-time, ensuring that each leakage point was properly treated.


Outcome And Impact:

After treatment with polyurethane grouting material, the water leakage problem in the subway tunnels was fundamentally resolved. Even during subsequent rainy seasons, the tunnel interior remained dry, greatly enhancing metro safety and passenger travel experience. Additionally, this solution extended the service life of the tunnel structure and reduced future maintenance costs.
